SUMMARY:CLUB GALA  27th March 2025
DESCRIPTION:The club gala is an annual event & usually a really good evening with lots of fun!  It is expected that all club swimmers will compete & that a parent/carer will help out with the event.   \n  \nStructure of the afternoon/evening \n3.50-4pm children register & then go poolside to warm up \n4.20pm first races start \n6.30/7pm we aim to finish all the racing \n7.15-7.45pm dinner at the Garth and medal/trophy presentations.  \n  \nSwimmers \nThis year there is a small trophy given to everyone swimming.  There are medals in each age category  8 and under\, 9&10\, 11&12\, 13&14\, 15+ for all 4 of the strokes.    Please wear usual swim kit & then when poolside (and not swimming) have shorts\, t-shirt & some flip flops/crocks/clean shoes.  Do bring money for the snack table.   If for any reason you can’t attend\, then we must know by 15th March as it affects the timing of events.  \n  \nParents \nPlease donate an item for the raffle (bring poolside asap).  Please also on the day bring an item for the snack/cake table and some cash on the day for children to make their purchases.  \nWe would be grateful for some more help to man the snack table\, timekeeping and raffle.. If you can let us know asap that would be amazing – even half an hour per person spreads the load.  \nThank you to those who have already offered to time keep / help poolside.  \nDinner:  \n            As stated\, after the gala\, at 7:15pm\, we are meeting at the Garth Hotel for food\, prize giving and raffle! \n            Please note the responsibility of getting your child from the CMC to the Garth lies with you\, not  the swim club.  \nMeal choices: We have put up a menu choice spreadsheet on the swim club notice board at CMC for the children to tick their choice – please remind them to do that at their next training sessions. They need to have chosen by Thursday 20th March \nThe swimmers meals are being paid for by the club.  \nWe have kept it simple for the hotel by having 3 choices:  \n\n Macaroni cheese and garlic bread. \n Buttermilk Chicken burger with chips and salad or \n Fish goujons with chips and peas.\n\nParents/ families\, it would be lovely if you join us to eat at the Garth to eat. Please see the attached menus adult and child for your information. You can pre-order by contacting the Garth but will need to settle payments directly with them. Please bear with the staff on the night as with the numbers involved despite preorder\, there may be a little delay in serving up. DESCRIPTION:Notes for Trytri – date in 2024 in 19th May \nVolunteers \nThe Trytri 24th April looking for 7 helpers poolside.  Variety of jobs from lane counting\, running with times\, helping organise swimmers poolside.  Fraser MacKellar lead – Vicky is taking over. \n  \nSnack Table \n  \nPRIOR \nMarie was contacted early May – agreed to make 2 soup kettles – carrot and coriander & lentil.  Did extra pans too.  Donated this.  She brought hot plate & ladels too. \nChecked CMLC that we could have tables and power socket to the left of the reception desk (as you walk in).  Put up club banner.  \nBought 72 white rolls \, 24 brown\, 2 boxes of oatckaes.  24 rolls were left.  We buttered these.  \nBought paper bags (120)\, serviettes (2 packs of 100)\, paper plates (2packs of 50)\, cups\, spoons\, \nBaking – there was a good spread of baking.  We charged\, £1\, £1.50 or £2.  The soup £2.50.  There would have maybe been equivalent of 30 celebration boxes of baking.  \nTook in wet wipes \nWe put a float in of £20. \n  \nON THE DAY \nSet up at 8.30am.   Had staffed volunteers every hour through.  Some people didn’t come through\, others covered double.  Really quiet on stall until 11am.  Then lots of people. \n48 white rolls came back.  All the brown rolls went.  1 box of oatcakes left \n300 cups left\, 50 paper plates\, 400 spoons \n  \nAFTER \nCMLC stopped selling things at 1pm. \nWanted us out for 2.30pm.  The team took cakes around field and sold remainder of cakes. \n  \nFOR NEXT YEAR \n? people asking for coffee/tea – do we ask a coffee trailer to come? \n? little more soup \n? manning stall different timings \n?48 brown rolls and 30 white and 1 box oatcakes \n? 50 paperplates \n? 2 packs of 100 serviettes \n? No wet wipes just hand santizer \n  \nHOW TO THANK MARIE? \nAmy how many spoons and cups did you buy?  How much do we owe you for cups/spoons \nI’ve taken out £20 we put in for float\, £20 for rolls etc. \n  \nI have £381.27  & £30 that Edie/Hal’s mum has!  Just need to give Amy money back from this!

DESCRIPTION:It’s the Swim Club gala on Thursday 14th March all club swimmers should attend from 4pm.  This is the highlight of the season and a great night for the swimmers to cheer each other on and enjoy some race experience. Everyone is encouraged to swim their best.  There is a participation award for everyone\, medals for each stroke in age group and trophy for the top girl and boy in each age group.  \nOther details please note for swimmers (and discuss with them!)\, \n\nWarm up will be from 4-4.20pm.  Racing will start as soon as we can after this!\nSwimmers will swim in heats with other children the same speed as them (not necessarily the same age).  When medals/trophies are awarded the swimmer will be back in their age category!\nThere will be judges on poolside – the swimmers have been training hard for this night so if the rules of the strokes/starts/turns/finishes are not followed then the swimmer will be dqd (disqualified).\nSwimmers should bring swim kit/shorts/t-shirt/poolside shoes\n\nPlease could we have parent help\, \n\nProviding baking/snacks\nAround poolside with time keeping etc.\nIf your child isn’t able to compete let Cath know asap (this allows us to plan the heats of races so they’re all full and we can run the event to time)

DESCRIPTION:We will be running a swim camp in the last week of the summer holidays. This is a great opportunity for swimmers to get fit again going into the new term! \nIt will be mornings – a program for juniors and a program for seniors. There will be a sports science session each day led by the team at CMLC. Then one (for juniors) and two (for going into S1 to High School) swim sessions a day. There will be a mini competition for all on Thursday. \nTo book onto this then please do so through the HLH schools out system. If there are any seniors happy to help out\, then that would be great! \nIt is assumed that your child will swim the same sessions as this term\, if this isn’t the case then please let us know asap.

SUMMARY:Nairn/Grantown friendly at the Aquadome
DESCRIPTION:We are please to confirm the Nairn Friendly Swim Meet will go ahead on\nSaturday 28th May at Inverness Leisure (Aquadome).\n\nEach swimmer will swim 2 x 50metre races.  The strokes have been decided by the coaching team.  It is expected that all swimmers attend the meet unless we have been otherwise informed\n\nIt will be a fun and relaxed atmosphere and is always great for new and more experience swimmers alike to get up to date times under race conditions with a bit of healthy competition.\n\nIMPORTANT\nPlease be poolside by 3.45pm ready for team instructions and warm up\n\nSwimmers will need poolside shorts and t shirts for poolside to wear when not swimming\, also an extra towel as well as water\, goggles\, swim caps (optional for boys) and plenty of energy to support your team.\n\nTIMEKEEPERS\nWe will need timekeepers\, as this is a friendly meet you do not have to hold the official qualification (keep an eye out for information about how to qualify coming soon).  If you are able to help out please let me know by return of email.\n\nFinally this friendly meet is being funded by Club (usually there is a charge for entering swim meets) so thanks for buying snacks at timing evenings and please continue to fundraising events.\n\nAny questions or queries please do ask.

SUMMARY:Swim Club Meet Buckie Swimming Pool
DESCRIPTION:It is great that we are finally getting back to some sort of normal and in the swimming world that means we can start competing again.  For those of you who are new to this swim competitions are called ‘Meets’ and we will help you navigate your way through the process.\n\nThis term all the club are going to compete at the Club Gala (so like a timing evening but with medals\, age categories and trophies!).\n\n\nPlease note the information below:-\n\nWe need to provide timekeepers\, not everyone is currently qualified in the club so if you do hold the qualification and can offer to do the morning or afternoon session it would be much appreciated by the whole team.  Please reply to this email with name and session.\n\n(There will be an opportunity for those not yet qualified to do the short evening online course followed by a practical session shortly)\n\nPlease ensure swimmers are at the venue 10 mins ahead of warm up starting (warm up starts at 8am) – if you aren’t there and we haven’t heard from you we will need to withdraw your swimmer from the session as we incur a fine otherwise.  If you are running late please let Cath know on her mobile 07515480821\n\nSwimmers should have goggles\, swim caps (optional for boys)\, a towel\, poolside footwear and water with them poolside.\n\nViewing area is limited (another great reason to timekeep if you can!)\n\nGood luck everyone and swim fast.  Can’t wait to hear how you all get on
